September 15, 2021- After a year and a half of music students learning, singing and playing their instruments virtually, the Falmouth High School Marching Band took the field for the National Anthem, School Song and Half-Time performance last Friday night.
“It was so special to see our students back on the field, in their uniforms and playing live music in front of a live audience,” said Steve Edwards Head of the Fine Arts Department for Falmouth Public Schools.
We are in the planning stages to bring back concerts district-wide including the unique All Bands Night which showcases Morse Pond, Lawrence and the High School bands and jazz bands. Lawrence band and chorus are organizing and planning their annual spring trip to Great East Music Festival in Springfield while the FHS Concert, Jazz, Chamber and Chorus students are heading to NYC in April for a competition and cultural experience. The FHS Jazz Band is also planning their special Annual Evening of Jazz event in April.
There will be many fundraisers throughout the year to offset the costs of these opportunities and to purchase new instruments including a timpani and baritone sax. Fundraisers will include the Holiday Greenery Sales in November, Electronics Disposal events in the fall and spring, Christmas Tree pick up in January, Fruit Sales in February and the Evening of Jazz event in April. More details about each event to come soon.
